There is nothing we enjoy more then a Wicked paint transformation project – especially when the bike in question is an all-time classic.

This month we were super excited to get to work on this Harley Davidson Sportster with a fantastic brief from the owner.  After an in-depth consultation  it was time to roll up our sleeves, head to the factory and get this beast of a bike “Summer ready!”

THE LOWDOWN

The Bike: Harley Davidson Sportster
The Process: Custom Painting
The Colour: Custom Paintwork in high gloss black

It’s always good when our customers come to us with a vivid idea of the customisation they are after.  The owner of this HD Sportster, Andrew Stainer, had spent quite some time researching the project and eventually found some inspirational pictures online that were similar to the finish he was after.

Having searched for a trusted custom painting specialist online, he found our Wicked Website and decided to get in touch to discuss his brief

He initially need us to:

Repair minor scratches & dents
Prepare components for paint
Paint all parts as per his ‘inspiration’ photo

The parts that were sent to us for customisation (all from a black 2012 HD Sportster were):

Front fender
Rear Fender
Oil Cover
Battery cover
Tank

Having completed the prep work we started the customisation be applying a high metallic silver base in Hades water transfer. Following that we stenciled “Harley Davidson” onto the tank and shaded it in.

Andy was keen for us to produce a faint watermark style red throughout the paintwork which would really compliment the brass hand controls of the sportster. To incorporate this into the customisation we ended up applying a Kandy Apple Red Lacquer which worked perfectly to bring the bike to life!

We all think it looks pretty awesome.
