It’s not often that you get to work on a project as sweet as this one.
Especially when the end goal is to convert a Yamaha R1 into a true M1 replica, in time to be ridden in style to the Isle of Man TT 2013.
Here’s some background.
The team over at Jesters Trick Bits were recently approached by a customer who challenged them to help plan and execute the build of a Yamaha M1 using a supplied 2006 R1. No mean feat by anyones standards, especially with the imposing deadline set as the legendary TT!
Luckily, Nick at Jesters had the skill and industry experience to know exactly how to tackle such a project and was shrewd enough to know that there could only be one choice for the carbon dipping and custom paint work section of the job! Wicked Coatings was only too happy to oblige…
So with the M1 bodywork ordered, and all necessary parts sourced from a portugese company called Lacomoto, the project was underway! The next step was to get the bike into the workshop where it could be stripped and prepared for the makeover of its life.
Once the parts had arrived in stock for fitting and the bike had been dropped to Racefit for pipe work to be made up, it was time to get into the real meat of the project – removing the factory bodywork, installing parts and fitting the Lacomoto bodykit, all of which went smoothly.
It was now time for Wicked Coatings to step up and show what we could do.
Next step: Carbon dipping & custom painting the bike.
Here was our to-do list:
2 x rear sets
Generator rotor cover
Pick up rotor cover
Clutch cover inc the cable protector
Front sprocket cover
Both wheels
Rear brake reservoir cap
Rossi Replica Paintwork
Full Yamaha Fiat Rep
With the bike safely delivered to our workshop, we got to work on the carbon dipping element of the job first and then moved on to the full paint job – an absolute joy to work on.
It was then time to get the bike back to Jesters for the final fit and check up. With a new alarm system installed and indicator lights and registration plate fitted, the bike had reached the end of its incredible transformation and was ready to be returned to the customer.
A huge amount of planning, organisation and skill went into this project and it is testament to all involved that the job was completed in time for this awesome machine to make it over to the Isle of Man TT for the kind of admiration that it deserves.
Another great carbon dipping and custom paint work project completed. A massive thanks to all involved – it was definitely one to remember. Read a testimonial for the work we did from Nick at Jesters.

You have probably noticed that we use quite a number of terms to describe what we do here at Wicked Coatings! Predominantly, we stick to the phrase “Hydrographics” as an umbrella term for the type of customisation that we offer – but there are many many other ways to refer to exactly the same process – you will probably recognise or have used one of the words below when searching for us on Google or Bing:
Carbon Dipping
Water Transfer Printing
Cubic Printing
3D Printing
Hydro Dipping
Immersion Printing
Each one of these terms refers to exactly the same thing – but the bottom line is, we can customise pretty much any object imaginable using our expertise in this multi-phase process known probably most commonly as Hydrographics.
For all you DIY enthusiasts – it is definitely possible to achieve pleasing results in the comfort of your own home with a few essential items such as a basic container, thermometer, hydrographics film and activator.
However, for a truly professional and guaranteed result that is 100% perfect every time – you should be putting your hydrographics project into the hand of an expert like Wicked Coatings!
Read some of our latest testimonials to discover more about the type of service that we can offer – we really are proud of what we do, from the quality of our finished product to the level of customer care that we strive to achieve each and every time we take on a new project. If you need your item back in time for a particular show or expo then we will rise to the challenge every time to try and achieve your deadline.

And remember – you may say carbon dipping and your mate may say water transfer printing – but it all boils down to the same thing guys – incredible customisation at an affordable price, every time.
Wicked Coatings – well what can I say about this incredible company…
I found this product through a car show/club who had one of the skull coatings designs. On closer inspection I found the work to be very good and as it was in a heated space the covering had coped excellently.
So I called Wicked Coatings the next day with my requirements – a checked plate effect carbon dip – and was told the turn round time which they managed to beat by 2 days, even though they were moving premises. (No pressure as these were items for my engine bay for a show!!)
The box came – I opened it and was blown away with the detail and finish – a seriously top quality product from a firm that keep me up to date throughout the process. Fast and friendly excellent service.
I would say it was one of the features that helped me get one of the top five cars trophy – you can’t do better than that! My car also won the Jap show finale (one of the top cars in show 2012)
I have more items to be done with my interior styling, you can bet this will be the place I come back to. Well done Wicked Coatings – your work is top dollar!
Thanks lads

Checked Plate Effect Carbon Dipping from Wicked Coatings
After spending a couple of days searching out carbon fibre wrappers and gasping at the prices I received for skinning my interior parts I was almost set on not getting them done at all.
A forum mate sent me in the direction of Wicked Coatings.
At first I was a bit skeptical about the results of water transfer printing but after looking through some of their previous projects I was sold! I gave the guys an email, packaged my bits off and sent them over. Less than 2 weeks later my new parts arrived on my doorstep. WOW… what a transformation. I couldn’t recommend Wicked Coatings enough!!!
An amazing job done at a very very good price. The finish of the gloss black base and carbon fibre look overlay is outstanding and wouldn’t look out of place on a lot of cars straight from the factory! Im already thinking what to have done next!
Reaction on Meg Sport to these has been brilliant.
Thanks so much guys,
Nathan Russell
I really need to put in writing my sincere appreciation for what you have done for me.
I would like to thank you for your excellent customer service and most of all, your understanding on how important it was for me to get my cover back in time to attend Japfest. I know the cover was sent to you a bit later than would have been ideal for you, but you guys were still able to get the job done for me in time. I can’t praise you enough for helping me out.
I have to say the rocker cover looked bloody fantastic and when the sun caught it, made it look like 3d holograms absolutely stunning – fairplay to Wicked Coatings!
I’m sure it was that which helped my car become the winner of the Japfest 2013 power and style award, so again I thank you.
I like the design so much that I now wish to remove my clear cambelt cover and replace with the standard cover only this time dipped again with Reaper and that lovely blue to match the rocker cover. It’s going to be part of my new engine build so should look awesome when it’s all done. Again thanks for the excellent service you have provided for my show winning car!
I can’t recommend Wicked Coatings enough, and will do on the forums I visit and clubs I am a member of.

I just wanted to say what a great job you did with my Landrover parts. My car interior looks the business and family and friends love it. They all want to send parts to you to coat in a similar pattern. Everytime I enter the car I think “Wow” this looks amazing.
Your service is great and your turnaround time is excellent. All this in just 1 week and so professional too. Keep up the good work. My interior finally has a new lease of life. Many thanks once again,
Stephen
