Military & Defence Coatings
MIL-SPEC and defence-standard protective coating systems
Defence-Grade Coating Capabilities
Wicked Coatings is a trusted supplier to the UK Ministry of Defence and prime defence contractors. Our facility delivers protective coating systems that meet the most demanding military specifications, from chemical agent resistant coatings (CARC) to low-observable finishes.
Defence Standards We Coat To
We apply paint systems to the following UK Defence Standards (DEF STAN), from IRR camouflage to chemical agent resistant coatings. If your specification is not listed, speak to our team.
-
DEF STAN 80-122 Stoving paint systems with infra-red reflecting (IRR) camouflage in NATO Green, Black and Desert Tan.
-
DEF STAN 80-166 Two pack air drying IRR matt finish for defence equipment. A highly durable, chemically resistant exterior scheme meeting the IRR requirements of DEF STAN 00-23 and STANAG 2338.
-
DEF STAN 80-208 / 80-209 CARC High solids two pack polyurethane CARC finishes for military vehicles and ground equipment. Over the correct primer the scheme meets DEF STAN 00-23 camouflage and DEF STAN 00-72 chemical agent resistance. Matt finish.
-
DEF STAN 80-225 CARC The chromate-free successor to 80-208 and 80-209, with heavy metals removed from the system. Meets DEF STAN 00-23 IRR camouflage and DEF STAN 00-72 chemical agent resistance. Matt finish.
-
DEF STAN 80-152 Stoving finish for instruments with excellent chemical and physical resistance. The full system withstands many acids, alkalis and detergents and is used on telecommunications and fire control equipment.
-
DEF STAN 80-153 Air drying IRR finish in matt light stone for service vehicles and ancillary electronic equipment, giving protection in temperate and tropical climates.
-
DEF STAN 80-161 NATO Green or White high solids, low VOC two pack epoxy finish for military vehicles, telecommunications and ground equipment. Durable and resistant to chemicals and hydraulic fluids.
-
DEF STAN 80-41 Air drying high build IRR alkyd finishing system for service vehicles and ancillary electronic equipment, with specified infra-red reflecting properties for temperate and tropical use.
-
DEF STAN 80-48 General service stove enamel. An exterior quality, lead free stoving gloss paint applied over the recommended primer for optimum protection.
-
DEF STAN 80-51 Stoving paint system for service vehicles and ancillary electronic equipment, protecting in both temperate and tropical climates.
-
DEF STAN 80-54 Air drying exterior quality, lead free paint for general service use, normally specified as a finish over a Ministry approved primer.
