An Interview With Chris Rogers: Trainee Water Transfer Technician

Back to listing

Amid a constant frenzy of activity on the factory floor we managed to catch our trainee water transfer technician on his tea break to grill him about life in our hectic dipping area, his favourite project so far at Wicked Coatings and why he thinks Lewis Hamilton will be bringing home the F1 title for Britain this year!

NAME: Chris Rogers

AGE: A sprightly 33!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED AT WICKED COATINGS?

This month will be my 2 year anniversary. It’s been emotional…

DO YOU HAVE A TYPICAL DAY?

A typical day no – but everyday holds new challenges, with the different types of products that come through the busy dipping area.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?

I get satisfaction from transforming a dull, boring everyday generic item into something that has a ‘WOW’ factor and looks completely different and exciting when it leaves us for the customer.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE PROJECT?

Approximately 12 months ago we had a project to dip some aeroplane components (private plane interiors).  I had to drive to Bournemouth Airport to meet the plane on the runway, unload the components, race back to the factory and produce some exciting designs! We opted for Black Burled Wood for the entire interior including panels and trims. We were working to a three day turnaround so this turned out to be a high adrenaline job which certainly motivated the team to complete the job to a very high standard.

HAVE YOU EVER HAD ANYTHING CUSTOMISED YOURSELF?

Yes, I have had a number of items customised including my phone case, play station controller,  Jet Ski and pit bike which is an ongoing project. WHAT CAR DO YOU DRIVE?  A Vivaro Van that is my work tool and useful for transporting the Pit Bike and Jet Ski.

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR DREAM MOTOR?

Mitsibishi Evo 6 would be a bit girly but never the less great! A  WR450F Yamaha would blow my mind.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SPORT?

Formula 1 – no contest!

GO ON THEN – WHO WILL WIN THE WORLD TITLE THIS YEAR?

Lewis is the man, he just needs a bit of luck to go his way, he is definitely the best driver in the world at the moment hence another great win last week!
